The Process

Art Talk

Art is about connecting. I want to create a piece that speaks to you and helps to set the tone of your space. So we will discuss what color palette you're interested in, what space will it be going in, and what style art of mine that you are most drawn to. I also like to make sure what you are looking to create is within my style. I only take commissions that fit my abstract feel and I adapt and interpret your requests within that format.

Select a Size

After the initial discussion about what you are looking for, I will give you options of various sizes that fit the space you want to fill and corresponding prices. All of my art is priced by the square inch.

Getting to work

Once we are on the same page with the intention for the piece I ask for a deposit and then I can begin the piece. Typically commissions take 2-4 weeks from beginning to end and that can vary with the scope of the piece and where you are in the queue. We can discuss the specific time frame for your piece and I can try to accommodate requests if needed by a certain date.

Checking in

After I begin I will typically send updates on how the process is coming. Once I get the piece to a point I love I will send you photos to see if you love it as well. At that time you can request changes to the art if you desire. Once you love the piece as well and approve I will then varnish and install the hardware for hanging. Items are sold unframed. If framing is something you wish for we can discuss that and it would be an additional cost.

Delivery

If painting is being shipped I will then package and ship it to you. If it is being delivered locally we can arrange that. And then you can install that new one-of-a-kind original piece of art and start enjoying it!

How do I know what size to get?

I will ask you to send a measurement/photo of the wall and find out what approx. area you want to fill with a painting. From there I will send you sizes with quotes so you can see which size works best with your space and budget. **The best way to get a feel for how much space a painting will take up is to mark off the dimensions with painters tape or post-it notes.

How do I select what I want?

I will ask a number of questions to get a sense of what you are looking for. If you’ve seen other paintings of mine that you love and want a similar design or like certain aspects, that is a great starting point.

How long does it take?

This can vary but from initial discussion to delivery is approximately 4-5 weeks. It can depend on how quickly we decide what you want, if you are getting the piece framed, and how quickly I can start - if I have other commissions/projects in progress you will be given a timeline of when I can begin your project. If you have a specific deadline you need a it by please let me know as I can try to accommodate.

Can I tell you what colors I want?

Of course! The best way to do this is by sending me specific colors, inspiration ideas, or other home decor items to coordinate. I can build a color palette from that and will send you that for approval before I begin.

How does the cost and payments work?

My prices are based on square inch. Once you select your size and design I require 50% deposit before I begin. Then the final payment is due after approval of the painting and prior to delivery/shipping.

Can I have it framed?

Yes, I offer framing at an additional fee. Let me know if that’s something you want and I can get you more information.

Will you send me a sketch or rough draft of my painting first?

No, with my style of abstract it is an intuitive process and therefore I don’t typically have a specific design mapped out prior to the painting. (That is what makes each piece truly an original one-of-a-kind!) Because of this I want to get a thorough understanding of what you want by a questionnaire, example paintings and discussions prior to beginning. Before final approval you will have a chance to request changes/additions/adjustments if you wish (within reason). I want you to LOVE your painting!
